6174 can be enigmatic, but to me it’s a fussy number. Fussy because it starts with the #6 which is one of “Service to Others”. You have to know precisely what your service to others is, when you use this number.
6174 doesn’t start with the 1, which is the “I”, the “Who I am”. It doesn’t start with a #2 which is what you have outside of the “who I am”, like assets, material belongings, residencies, partners,… It doesn’t start with a #3 which is your first expression of yourself, where you start co-creating. It doesn’t start with a #4 which is “home base”, the “trampoline” from which to spring into action. And it doesn’t start with the #5 which is your creative manifestation (In astrology, the 5th house is often associated to your children, your life creation). No, #6174 starts right off the bat with the #6.
Many people think the #6 is for work only, but it is really the result of your passage through #s 1–5. #6 is the best lived when you understand it is up to you to decide what “service to others” you will offer. Those who know what their gifts are in life, know what there #6 holds.
Following the 6 is the #1, which signifies that every action of service to others involved, is geared towards an entity or an individual. Here, not only is there a need to focus on just one person, entity or object, there is a subtle but very essential link to the #1 that acts this number out – the magician himself/herself. Taking yourself seriously, engaging in action towards another, the master magician knows that it is unto himself/herself that ultimately the act is done.
Then comes #7. Angels love the #7. #7 invites others to the table. It symbolizes “many like minded”. Again, in astrology, #7 opens up the journey of the soul to enrich itself with the minds of others. Learning, higher education, groups of like-minded people, travel,… all come under the #7 aspect of life.
The one who works with #6174 serves for a single purpose to be identified among many. One in many, or one with many (#17); using a #7 after a #1 invites the creative process to draw power from those that connect/align.
And then we end with a #4: home base, a platform to stand in and to spring from. #4 is square. It has to have structure, it needs to be defined, it usually represents our roots, family ancestry, our homes (not houses), our place of security and where karma starts. This is the landing point of the use of #6174.
So yes, #6174 is enigmatic, but perhaps more so esoteric for the advanced magician. Someone who uses this number has to have a very strong single-minded purpose of the most noble values, because behind it all, it starts with the 1–5 that puts it into play. The person who uses it must be strong within himself or herself to truly drive the “service to others” in the right direction, with empowering outside forces to land in the house where karma begins. You know that it’s the doer that first gets the benefits of his/her actions. So if you use it for evil, this number will collapse on itself (through the #1/7/4) and karma will come back at you very, very quickly, using this number, in your home, no less. If you use it for good, it will expand very fast, to multiples of people served and the user’s home base will thrive.

6174 is known as Kaprekar’s constant after the Indian mathematician D. R. Kaprekar. This number is notable for the following rule:
1.Take any four-digit number, using at least two different digits. (Leading zeros are allowed.)
2.Arrange the digits in descending and then in ascending order to get two four-digit numbers, adding leading zeros if necessary.
3.Subtract the smaller number from the bigger number.
4.Go back to step 2 and repeat.

I don’t think it’s an angel number. Angle numbers are of this type.
