A depository helps to interacts with investors through its agent who is called as depository participants (DPs). Investors who want to start investing in terms of buying and selling shares have to open an account with depository participants. Such an account is opened by a depository participant is known as a dematerialized account. A depository participant is an entity appointed by the depository through which its services are provided to investors. To avail of all the services like dematerialization and rematerialization of shares, maintaining a record of securities held by investors and many more an investors need to open a Demat account with a depository participant to avail of such services.
