To be more precise (and less funny), a 2.0 GHz has a clock in it that “ticks” 2000000000 times a second. You can think of every “tick” as an opportunity to execute the instruction. More the executions per second faster the completion of a task. So a 2.0 GHz CPU will finish tasks about 30% faster than the 1.4GHz CPU (ideally). These tasks include simple calculation and other “CPU intensive” tasks.
