1. Passion about data (You should feel like I need to analyse the data and come-up with the insights)
2. You should be technically strong (Should have proper knowledge on SAS, R and Python, technologies more in demand)
3. Also, the skills for data visualization i.e. Tableau or Power BI
4. You should also have a proper understanding on the domain (For example if you have expertise in Finance etc)
5. Finally, presentation skills matter alot.

These five things will definitely help you to become a good data scientist.
The process of becoming data scientist is slow but you will need to be steady and that will lead to the success.
